Štrekna is one of the most beautifully maintained bike paths that leads along the abandoned Velenje–Dravograd railway line.
The route is entirely paved and furnished with uniform signage and separated from the rest of the traffic. Cyclists and other travellers can take a break at any of the several stops with amenities that are set up along the path. Štrekna is a cycling route suitable for all types of cyclists. The route can be shorter or longer, according to your choice. With gentle and even slope it is easier in the direction of Austria, as it descends most of the time. The 30-seat Štrekna bus is hooked up with a 16-bike carrier trailer. The bus line connects Velenje, Gornji Dolič, Mislinja, Slovenj Gradec, Otiški vrh, Dravograd, and the swimming lake Labot (Lavamünd), Austria. In July and August, the bus service runs twice daily. In May, June and September, the bus runs only on weekends and Slovenian and Austrian bank holidays.
For families with small children, we suggest starting in Mislinja and finishing in Slovenj Gradec. The route is 10 km long in one direction (20 km in both directions with a slight ascent in the opposite direction).
For physically more fit cyclists we recommend the route that starts in Gornji Dolič and extends to Dravograd or further to Austria. The route is 24 km long in one direction (48 km in both directions).
Grof Cycling offers comfortable shuttle rides both to the start of the route and back to the Hotel.
