Cycling through Zasavje

This time we are heading to Zasavje. We start our journey at Hotel Grof. We cycle along the Bolska River towards Tabor and past the Lisjak Pond all the way to Prebold, where we turn right towards Marija Reka. Followed by the first significant climb to Podmeja and descent towards Trbovlje. At the Sava River, we cross the bridge and turn right towards Zagorje ob Savi. Just before Zagorje, at Šklendrovec, we turn left and ascend towards Podkum and Velika Preska, where we start descending towards Šmartno pri Litiji. When we arrive in Litija, we cross the Sava River once again and continue cycling towards Mošenik. In Mošenik we turn left and start climbing once again, this time towards Zasavska sveta gora, which lies 852 m above sea level. If you are running low on energy, you can refresh yourself at Zasavska sveta gora Mountain Hut. After the break, we continue with longer descent towards Vidrga and Izlake. When we arrive to Izlake we continue cycling in the direction of Čemšeniška planina followed by the last longer ascent of the day towards Čemšenik. We finish our day with the last descent towards Vransko and Hotel Grof.

This scenic route takes us towards Zasavje Region. We start cycling at Hotel Grof and continue towards Vransko. At Trojane - Tuhinj Valley crossroad we turn right and continue cycling towards Motnik. Once we reach Motnik we start ascending towards Trojane where we can take a short break and taste delicious Trojane Doughnuts. We continue ascending towards Dobrljevo, followed by first longer descend towards Zagorje and Trbovlje - the heart of Zasavje Region. At Swimming pool Trbovlje we turn right and start ascending towards Podmeja. Just before the top of Podmeja pass, in Knezdol, we turn left onto the side road towards Dom pod Reško planino Hut. Once we reach the hut we start descending towards Prebold, where we turn left and continue cycling through Kaplja vas, Grajska vas and Tabor all the way to Hotel Grof.

Scenic Lower and Upper Savinja Valley

We start our day at Hotel Grof and cycle along scenic, hilly local roads past Lake Žovnek towards Braslovče. When we arrive to Braslovče we continue towards Parižlje and accross Savinja River to Polzela. We turn left and continue cycling upstream along Savinja River towards Šmartno ob Paki. As we arrive to Skorno we continue right along Paka River to Florjan where we turn left towards Bele vode and Lepa Njiva. We start our first longer descent towards Mozirje and Mozirski gaj Gardeners’ Park. In Mozirje we follow the signs towards Golte, but we turn left towards Rečica ob Savinji just before the Golte cable car. As we arrive to Spodnja Rečica we cross Savinja River once again and continue cycling towards Trnovo and Šmartno ob Dreto followed by the longest climb of the day towards Lipa pass. Once we reach the pass we start descending towards Vransko and Hotel Grof.

Pavličevo sedlo and Jezersko

We start at Vransko and follow the road through Tuhinj Valley to the city of Kamnik in the Gorenjska Alpine Region. Continue towards Šenturska Gora and villages of Grad and Visoko, before a long ascent to Zgornje Jezersko and Jezerski vrh. Descent into Austria and then start ascending to Pavličevo sedlo, famous mountain pass in Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Followed by descent to the wonderful Logar Valley. Later on we continue our cycling trip along the alpine Savinja River towards Solčava, Luče, Ljubno ob Savinji and Radmirje. The last part will lead us to Šmartno ob Dreti and Lipa pass back to Vransko and our hotel.

Cycle to the Town of Counts 

Mostly flat route on local roads with short ascent near Lake Žovnek will first take you through the towns of Braslovče and Polzela, past Šenek Manor towards Šempeter in Lower Savinja Valley. Just before we reach the town of Šempeter we turn left towards Ložnica pri Žalcu and descend under highway overpass. Short ascent through the forest brings us to the Arja vas - Velenje regional road. The road leads us past Velika Pirešica to the top of small local hill (short climb), followed by short descent to the right towards Lopata and Celje. Follow the signs all the way to Celje where we cross Savinja river and continue our trip back to Griže through Prebold, all the way to Hotel Grof.

From Savinja Valley to Karst region

Short cycling tour into the Karst region, named after specific undergound formations such as caves and sinkholes. We begin our trip on less busy local roads in Savinja Valley and continue to a true karstic land. The route leads us past Lake Žovnek, through Braslovče and Parižlje all the way to Polzela. We cycle past Andraž pri Polzeli where we begin to ascend to a hilly karst terrain. We continue to Ponikva pri Žalcu - Ponikovski kras Landscape Park area. After we ascend to Kale where a nice view of the valley opens up in front of us. On the way back we can stop at the Pekel Cave, a karst cave with long history. To return back to Grof we follow a road through Šempeter in Savinja Valley and cycle along south part of the valley through Prebold, Grajska vas, and Tabor.

Cycle around Čemšeniška planina

Scenic route takes us towards Zasavje Region. Our trip begins in Lower Savinja Valley where paved road takes us to Prebold where we start our ascent towards Podmeja pass with an elevation of 724 m and leads towards Zasavje Region. We continue through a mining town of Trbovlje towards Zagorje ob Savi, but turn towards Čemšeniška planina plateau just before we reach the town. Climb on a less busy road with scenic views leads us to Čemšenik with the altitude of 630 m above sea level. Final few steep vertical meters are made in the town itself. We descend towards Trojane which is famous for their delicious Trojane doughnuts. We complete our journey with the descent towards Vransko and finally Hotel Grof.

Cycle across the most beautiful pre-alpine pass

Three mountain passes await on a circular route that connects Savinja and Gorenjska regions. The first one on the road through Tuhinj Valley is Kozjak pass with an elevation of 658 m. The main road leads us towards medieval town of Kamnik, located under Kamnik-Savinja Alps. After we countinue upstream along cold and invigorating Kamniška Bistrica River towards Črna pri Kamniku where we turn right and head towards Črnivec pass with elevation of 902 m. Beautiful descend among the pastures brings us to Gornji Grad. We continue our journey through Zadreška Valley, Dreta towards Šmartno pri Dreti where we begin our final climb towards Lipa pass with the altitude of 723 m above sea level. Finally we descend back towards Vransko and Hotel Grof.
