GROF'S FAMILY PACKAGE - 5 DAYS

Day 1: ARRIVAL TO SAVINJA VALLEY AND ACCOMMODATION AT BIKE HOTEL GROF ****

Arrival to Slovenia (possible transport from Ljubljana or other airports) to the Hotel GROF ****, your cycling holiday stay. Overnight stay.

DAY 2: PONDS AND LAKES

Breakfast at the Hotel. We begin our trip at Hotel Grof nad follow local roads past the Islander Ranch towards Tabor where we start to ascend. Soon we arrive to Lisjak Pond, a popular area for weddings, birthday parties and other gatherings. We continue with short ascent through forest path and descend towards Celje – Vransko main regional road. Once we cross the main road we arrive to Gomilsko. Mostly flat road leads us to Braslovče where we turn right towards Lake Preserje which is located 1 km away from Braslovče. The lake is a great place for an active relaxation with fishing, walking paths or relaxing by the Savinja river. Afterwards we continue back to Braslovče and turn right past the Braslovče hayrack, followed by a descent towards Lake Braslovče. At the lake you can find a short educational trail around the lake and a chalet which is known for their trout. Afterwards we continue our journey back through Braslovče and we turn right towards Žovnek Castle and Lake Žovnek – an artificial lake known for its numerous birds breeds that nest there. We recommend visiting Žovnek Castle on the way back to Hotel Grof. Overnight stay.

Day 3: LOGAR VALLEY AND SOLČAVA PANORAMIC ROAD

Breakfast at the Hotel followed by our most scenic tour to the heart of Upper Savinja Valley - Logar Valley, and Solčava Panoramic Road - the route with the most beautiful views of Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Our comfortable van will take you all the way to Solčava - starting and end point of our tour. Solčava Panoramic Road is unique in its beauty, taking you along the pearls of the natural and cultural heritage of the Solčava Region, with breathtaking views of the peaks and valleys and past subsistence highland farms, producing everything nature offers and man creates with love. The route can be selected based on your means of transport and the available time. The route consists of twenty unforgettable stops across a large portion of the region, which also includes the Logar Valley, Robanov kot, Matkov kot, and Podolševa. At the end of the tour our shuttle will take you back to the Hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 4: VELIKA PLANINA

Breakfast. Our comfortable van will take you to Volovjek pass - starting and end point of our tour. We turn right at the pass and continue along the gravel road to Domžalski dom mountain hut, where a beautiful view of the karst high plateau Velika planina opens up in front of us. Cart tracks and single trails lead us towards the chapel of Marija Snežna and the Veternica cave. After 20 kilometers of cycling and elevation gain of 500-660 vertical meters (depending on the cycling fitness of the family) we complete the circular path at the Volovjek pass. Beautiful Velika planina vistas will leave you speechless. Back to Hotel Grof with our shuttle. Overnight stay.

Day 5: DEPARTURE

Breakfast at the Hotel. Shorter cycling tour around Vransko with a visit to one of the museums is possible (Vransko Motorcycle Museum, Pekel Cave, Roman Necropolis etc.) and departure.

Easy

You are a family with small children who can already cycle on their own. You cycle mostly on a plain with short gentle inclines.

Normal

You are a family with young children, who cycle on diverse terrain with small climbs and descents.

 Criteria for road cycling

Easy

You are in a poor shape and cycle up to twice a week. You cycle on slightly diverse terrain with smaller climbs and descents.

Normal

You are in a moderate shape and exercise more than 3x weekly. You cycle on hilly terrain with medium length climbs and descents.

Hard

You are in a good shape and exercise regularly. You cycle on a hilly terrain and can spend multiple hours on a bicycle.

Expert

You are in an excellent shape and spend a lot of time exercising. You cycle on a hilly terrain with steep inclines and descents.
